Contoy Island - South of the island is the Ixlaché reef, wich is part of the second biggest reef barrier in the world (home of 234 species of fish, sharks, stingrays and crustaceans).
The island is one of the most important refuges of seabirds in the Mexican Caribbean (home of over 150 species). There also inhabit: reptiles and crustaceans.
During the summer, three species of turtles come to Contoy's beaches to lay their eggs.
It has a visitor center with a museum exhibit, two interpretive trails where you can appreciate the flora and fauna of the island, an observation deck for observation of birds, and a restaurant for tourists.
Activities: snorkeling on the Ixlache Reef, swim in its beaches, flora and fauna observation.

To swim in cenotes bring your swimsuit, a visor or goggles, and life jacket (even if you know how to swim).
